   Areas affected...south-central/southeast TX

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 331...

   Valid 270157Z - 270330Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 331 continues.

SUMMARY...Destructive wind gusts and brief tornadoes should remain
probable with an intense QLCS moving east-southeast from central
into southeast Texas, where an additional watch will be issued.

DISCUSSION...The northern end of an intense QLCS has consistently
had 80-90 kt inbound velocities upon approach to the KGRK radar, at
or above 800 ft AGL. Thus far, measured surface gusts have only
reached 50 kts, but will likely increase as this surge crosses I-35
and accelerates eastward into southeast TX. A separate severe wind
swath should form where an intense supercell remnant will spread
north-northeast of the KEWX radar. Transient mesovortices will pose
an enhanced threat for destructive wind gusts/brief tornadoes.
