We are in peak tarpon season and the spring migration is in full swing.Â
Fishing has been good for tarpon with live crabs being the bait of choice. Fish average 70-100lbs with some bigger and some smaller fish. Live pinfish also work along with big eye shiners and thread herring. I suspend the crabs under floats from 2’-4’ depending on conditions. 8/0 circle hooks work with a 50-80lb fluorocarbon leader. We’ve been leaving the dock at 6am and say start to go earlier as we get closer to the summer solstice.
