DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 800 PM MST (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Rachel was located
near latitude 20.0 North, longitude 112.8 West. Rachel is moving
toward the west-northwest near 5 mph (7 km/h), and this motion is
expected to prevail though the next several days.
 
Maximum sustained winds have increased near 90 mph (150 km/h) with 
higher gusts.  Rachel should start to weaken on Sunday before some 
re-strengthening is possible on Monday or Tuesday.
 
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles
(240 km).
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 970 mb (28.65 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF: Swells generated by Rachel will continue to affect the coast
of west-central Mexico through the weekend and the Baja California
Peninsula through Monday. These swells are likely to cause
life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult
products from your local weather office.
