DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Odalys was located near latitude 17.6 North, longitude 124.0 West. Odalys is moving toward the northeast near 5 mph (7 km/h), with a turn to the north expected to occur over the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are near 115 mph (185 km/h) with higher gusts. Odalys is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. This intensity is expected to persist overnight, before gradual weakening is forecast heading into the weekend. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles (240 km).
