DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Douglas was located near latitude 16.5 North, longitude 127.0 West. Douglas is moving toward the north near 7 mph (11 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue into Thursday. A gradual turn to the northwest is forecast late this week. Maximum sustained winds remain near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Slight strengthening is possible overnight before a steady weakening begins later on Thursday. Douglas is forecast to become a post-tropical cyclone on Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km) from the center.
