DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Octave was located near latitude 12.9 North, longitude 119.6 West. Octave is moving toward the west-northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h) and this general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days. Over the weekend, Octave is forecast to turn sharply eastward. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours followed by some gradual strengthening. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 997 mb (29.44 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
