Synopsis for Keys coastal waters from Ocean Reef to Dry Tortugas
1031 AM EST Wed Jan 7 2026
.SYNOPSIS...A ridge axis extending from the Central Atlantic and
across the Gulf Basin will sit parked across the Florida Keys
today. As a result, light and variable wind will gradually clock
around from the northeast to east while remaining light to gentle.
The ridge is expected to become reinforced by a new ridge
shifting in from the west, allow breezes to freshen to gentle to
moderate through the end of the week and becoming more easterly.
The exception will be out across the Straits of Florida, where
moderate to occasionally fresh breezes will be possible. The next
cold front passage is looking to be late Sunday into early Monday
with freshening northerly breezes in the wake.
