Hurricane-force winds in the northern eyewall of Francine are nearing the coast of southern Louisiana. Now is the time to stay inside and away from windows. Have multiple ways to receive warnings and updates. An oil platform east of the center recently reported sustained winds of 74 mph (119 km/h) and a peak gust of 92 mph (148 km/h) at an elevation of 102 ft (31 m). A NOS station located on Eugene Island recently reported sustained winds of 54 mph (87 km/h) and a peak gust of 70 mph (113 km/h).
