A fire broke out at a house in Cape Coral early this morning after the structure was hit by lightning.
According to Cape fire division chief of operations Tom Tomich, smoke was coming from the roof of a home on the 1300 block of SE 23rd Street after lightning struck the residence and blew a hole on the roof.
Firefighters searched the attic and found fire smoldering. The residents evacuated the home, and no injuries were reported.
There is no word on the amount of damage the home sustained.
