AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY RUSKIN FL
349 AM EDT SAT JUL 4 2009

.SHORT TERM (TODAY-MONDAY)...THE MID/UPPER LEVEL TROUGH THAT HAS
BEEN PLAGUING THE EASTERN U.S. WILL WEAKEN SOME TODAY ALLOWING
SOME RIDGING TO BUILD OVER THE AREA. HOWEVER...DURING SUNDAY AND
MONDAY THE TROUGH WILL DEEPEN SLIGHTLY ONCE AGAIN AS THE NEXT
CUTOFF LOW MOVES ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES AND INTO THE NORTHEAST.
MEANWHILE AT THE SURFACE THE RIDGE AXIS WILL HOLD ACROSS SOUTH
FLORIDA THROUGH SUNDAY THEN SHIFT SOUTH ACROSS THE FLORIDA STRAITS
ON MONDAY. THIS WILL MEAN A CONTINUATION OF THE OVERALL LOW LEVEL
WEST TO SOUTHWEST FLOW ACROSS THE REGION.

FOR TODAY...SOME DRIER AIR WILL OVERSPREAD THE NORTHERN HALF OF
THE AREA (PRECIPITABLE WATER VALUES FALLING BELOW 1.5 INCHES AND
EVEN NEAR 1 INCH FAR NORTH) HELPING TO LIMIT CONVECTIVE COVERAGE.
A FEW MORNING SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE COASTAL WATERS WILL
CONTINUE TO DRIFT ONSHORE IN THE WESTERLY FLOW. THIS CONVECTION
WILL GRADUALLY SPREAD INLAND BY AFTERNOON WITH THE BEST COVERAGE
OF STORMS OVER THE INTERIOR AND SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE AREA.
OVERALL LOOKS LIKE A PARTLY SUNNY HOT DAY ACROSS THE REGION WITH
RAIN CHANCES RANGING FROM 20 NORTH TO 40 SOUTH.

TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY LOOKS RATHER SIMILAR TO TODAY WITH A FEW
SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE COASTAL WATERS MOVING ONSHORE INTO
MAINLY THE NATURE COAST LATE TONIGHT THEN SPREADING/DEVELOPING
INLAND DURING THE DAY WITH THE BEST COVERAGE OVER THE INTERIOR
AND SOUTHERN ZONES. POPS WILL ONCE AGAIN RANGE FROM 20 NORTH TO 40
SOUTH.
